World Language Week!

Next week is World Language Week at the high school, and the department has organized quite a few wonderful activities for a school-wide collaborative. Several faculty members have incorporated international topics into their lesson plans, and many are decorating bulletin boards in their classroom about various cultures, historical events and people. There will be a different country or region's theme each day and it will be reflected in morning announcement trivia, music during passing times, and school lunches.

Here is the schedule for next week:

Monday - ASIAN day
Tuesday - SWEDISH day
Wednesday - FRANCE day, and dress up day! Winners will be chosen for a prize.
Thursday - SPANISH day
Friday - ITALIAN day

During Parent-Teacher conferences on Thursday night from 5:30-8:30, we will be hosting an international café in the main foyer of the high school, featuring ethnic foods made by our students for purchase. We will also have foreign language students serving and working this café, many faces you will recognize from my various videos and pictures on this site.

We hope you will join us for some of this week's events! I am so excited to see the students get involved and invested in the more cultural aspects of the countries they study from day to day!

Look for videos and pictures as I post them during the week! At the top of the post are a couple of good pictures of my classroom, decked out with the flags of several French-speaking countries and regions: France, Québec, Belgium, Martinique, Senegal, Haiti, and French Polynesia.
